But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ~Ephesians 2:4-7 NRSV
Question with your Cup – Advent Week 1: *re•form /re’fôrm/ (verb) to make changes in order to improve
Transparency or cloudiness – does your cup’s opacity or lack thereof, have anything to say to you?
When you are alone with God, how comfortable are you with your transparency or cloudiness?
For every look you take at yourself, take ten looks at Jesus. ~ She Reads Truth
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy
like the wideness of the sea;
there’s a kindness in his justice,
which is more than liberty.
There is welcome for the sinner,
and more graces for the good;
there is mercy with the Savior;
there is healing in his blood.
There is no place where earth’s sorrows
are more felt than in heaven;
there is no place where earth’s failings
have such kind judgment given.
There is plentiful redemption
in the blood that has been shed;
there is joy for all the members
in the sorrows of the Head.
For the love of God is broader
than the measure of man’s mind;
and the heart of the Eternal
is most wonderfully kind.
If our love were but more faithful,
we should take him at his word;
and our life would be thanksgiving
for the goodness of the Lord. ~ Frederick William Faber, 1862
Lay hold of something that will help you, then use it to help somebody else. ~ Booker T. Washington 1856 – 1911
Prayer: *pray for this process of forming and re-forming.
For the times we rejoice that your mercies are new every day and for when we doubt you, Lord hear our prayer.
