cup47Today’s Scripture:

Read * Reflect * Respond * Rest (instructions for Lectio Divina)

…what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.

You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,
all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field… ~Psalm 8:4 -7 NRSV

Questions with your Cup – Advent Week 1: *re•form /re’fôrm/ (verb) to make changes in order to improve

How is this cup like my prayer life?

Write down three things that you are asking God for – beside each one write “And so, God, I trust you for…”

Meditations:

This is our Lord’s will: that our prayer and our trust be both equally great. ~ Julian of Norwich 1342-1416

From the beginning, God created us for a deep abiding, intimate, everlasting relationship with Him. ~ Francine Rivers

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love. ~ Frances J. Crosby

May God the Father who created you, guide your footsteps, May God the Son who redeemed you, share your journey, May God the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you, lead you on life’s pilgrimage, and the blessing of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit be with you wherever you may go. Amen ~ Immaculate Conception Advent Prayer of the Day

Prayer: *pray for this process of forming and re-forming.

For those who write junk on public bathroom walls (because my child is rocking the Hooked on Phonics and now I have to justify “some things aren’t worth sounding out” Ugh!), Lord hear our prayer.

P.S. Email me a picture of your cup and you might see your cup up here soon! (Must be taken landscape – as in wide not tall)
