cup45Today’s Scripture:

Read * Reflect * Respond * Rest (instructions for Lectio Divina)

He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury; he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.” ~ Luke 21:1-4 NRSV

Questions with your Cup – Advent Week 2: *re•new /rǝ’n(y)oo/ (verb) to resume after an interruption

Do you wonder much when you look at your cup?

Is there room in your life for wonder?

Meditations:

Grace cannot prevail… until our lifelong certainty that someone is keeping score has run out of steam and collapsed. ~ Robert Farrar Capon

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. ~ Aristotle

The higher your faith, the less you have to analyze, because you just accept. You know Jesus. He comes to you in disguised form, and the disguised form is pain, people, imperfections, sufferings, health, weather, opportunities, work, thousands of things, your faults, your weakness, your temperaments – the whole thing blessed. ~ Mother Angelica

It’s not a matter of letting go – you would if you could. Instead of “Let it go” we should probably say “Let it be.”  ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

I just know that – old scars can break open like flesh wounds and your unspoken broken can start to rip you wide open and maybe the essence of all the questions is this: how in the Holy name of God do you live with your one broken heart. ~ Ann Voskamp

Prayer: *pray for this process of renewing.

For the woman, great with child, two kids in tow and six bags of groceries to carry, who waits in the rain to ride the bus home, Lord hear our prayer.
