cup43Today’s Scripture:

Read * Reflect * Respond * Rest (instructions for Lectio Divina)

On that day the branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel. Whoever is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, everyone who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem, once the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning.  Then the Lord will create over the whole site of Mount Zion and over its places of assembly a cloud by day and smoke and the shining of a flaming fire by night. Indeed over all the glory there will be a canopy.  It will serve as a pavilion, a shade by day from the heat, and a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.  ~ Isaiah 4:2-6 NRSV

Questions with your Cup – Advent Week 2: *re•new /rǝ’n(y)oo/ (verb) to resume after an interruption

This cup’s purpose is to hold liquid and when prompted to, dispense it for your enjoyment.

What is God’s purpose in your life? Is God prompting you to do anything? What might you and God “enjoy” together this Advent?

Meditations:

If you have two shirts in your closet, one belongs to you and the other to the man with no shirt. ~ Ambrose of Milan (340-397 AD)

Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence. ~ Og Mandino

How cool is it that the same God, who created mountains and oceans and galaxies, looked at you and thought the world needed one of you too? ~ Author Unknown

Let the stable still astonish;

Straw – dirt floor, dull eyes

Dusty flanks of donkeys, oxen;

Crumbling, crooked walls;

No bed to carry that pain,

And then, the child

Rag-wrapped, laid to cry

In a trough

Who would have chosen this:

Who would have said, “Yes, Let the God of all the heavens and earth be born

Here, in this place”?

Who but the same God

Who stands in the darker fouler rooms

Of our hearts

And says, “Yes, let the God of Heaven and Earth be born here –

In this place.” ~ Leslie Leyland Fields

Prayer: *pray for this process of renewing.

For the many things I have tried to grasp and have lost, and for the things I have placed in your hands and still have, Lord hear our prayer. #creditmartinluther

    For KariAnn, who finds the words we need to hear, speaks the words of our hearts that we didn’t even know were there, and shares her love with so many people. Lord, hear our prayer ??
